Trip Faq

We are excited to present an itinerary that includes the best of Bali – and a rejuvenating experience of Mind / Body / Spirit. A perfect balance of exploring the magic of the country and exploring the best of ourselves. Expanding your consciousness while nourishing your body and soul. Our itinerary is fluid as we follow a plan and allow grace and accept the invitations to the mysteries of new moments to guide our exploration.

Like other developing countries – there are sometimes hiccups in logistics, interruptions in power and other considerations that we can’t foresee. While we have carefully curated an enlightening and nourishing itinerary – we always leave room for the surprise gifts that Source delivers to us. We ask your patience and flexibility as we expand into even more wonderful experiences when these occur.

Bali is generally warm / hot and humid. We will be on the South Coast, the Middle of the island and on the North Coast. Temperatures during this time of year range from 75 – 87F. Rainfall is minimal – but rain showers on some days are expected. They are usually short bursts. Humidity runs around 80% generally. Accommodations will be air conditioned as well as our transport vehicles.

Bali voltage uses 220 volt. Travelers will require a voltage converter for 110 volt devices that we use in the States. Plugs are typically the 2 rounded prongs used in various parts of Europe so you will need an adapter for your normal flat plugs.  Generally speaking – You will need to have both an adapter and converter for devices you are bringing.

They have some fancy combinations they sell together. Mosey over to Amazon and use this search term and you will find many. “converter and adapter for Bali” *one example only below.

You will need a valid passport and visa. ***IMPORTANT: your passport must contain at least two blank pages and be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your arrival in Indonesia. If your passport does not meet these requirements, you will be denied entry into Indonesia. Please check today and take care of it straight away.

Visa – there are now options for getting your visa online before arrival. You may also get one upon arrival. We will provide additional information in September on visa’s and the new system they are working on. It is a quick process – so we have plenty of time.

In Bali you should carry your passport with you at all times.  We recommend the pouches that hang around your neck where you can keep your passport and your money safely tucked under your shirt.

Make copies of your passport and keep one with you in your luggage (separate from your passport) in case of loss.  Also keep a copy at home and in a secure internet cloud in case you need to access it.

If you need a certain kind of medicine or have a health issue, you should carry your medical records and definitely bring the exact medicine that you need with you.

You will want to explore how you are covered through your medical insurance company while traveling or any insurance through your credit card.

Some people like to purchase travel insurance for the trip. To get the best coverage be sure to get your insurance a month or two months before you travel.

There are many different kinds of insurance that cover a variety of different things and you can easily research them on the internet. Once you choose your insurance, have the copy of your insurance policy easily accessible during your entire trip.

We have only had experience with one company and it was a good one (we didn’t need to use the service).  Each service / plan has a different set of parameters so be sure to find one that best meets your needs.   We used this one as it came highly recommended…. but please do your own research … this is NOT an endorsement.  RoamRight  https://www.roamright.com/. We have also read that other people have had good experiences at HeyMondo.

We suggest you check with your carrier to get a travel plan for your phone while we are in Bali. AT&T offers a great plan that allows us to use the phone with regular cell service, texts, etc. for a very small amount per week. There is extensive wifi pretty much everywhere we will be traveling. Please also have Whatsapp on your phone as we will likely be using that for group communication while we are there. (though this only works for some when you are around wifi)

There are many ATM’s and banks located throughout Bali. We suggest that you bring a small amount of cash. Some places take dollars – but mostly they will be exchanged for IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) at local money changers. We will bring you to those changers near our lodging and city centers and make sure you are taken care of. We find that using ATM’s is also a great way to access money and the conversion rates are usually very good.

U.S. Dollars and credit cards are accepted in some stores (especially for larger purchases) and restaurants, but not all, so it is best to change some money for IDR.  We do not recommend traveler’s checks as the exchange rate is quite high and few banks will exchange them.

We have provided in the link a detailed packing list . Bali is very casual so comfortable summer clothes are ideal. Good walking shoes are necessary for touring days and the temple visits. Sandals and flip flops are good options for hotels, restaurants and healing activities. You can visit the packing list here: packing list

There are many places that do laundry for very inexpensive rates all over Bali. Once we are tucked into our retreat center – it can easily be done there by the wonderful care-givers that are supporting us for a small amount.

Bali is a shopping haven.  There is all manner of clothing, souvenirs, art, gemstones, etc. Some are of great quality and some are simply fun souvenirs. The local markets are a colorful explosion of all kinds of gifts and handicrafts.  We provide ample time to shop – and there are always vendors around the temples offering their treasures.

Bargaining is encouraged and expected from most vendors – and the Balinese are polite and fun. We will have a “Bali Bargaining” training session before we hit the markets. 🙂

If there is something specific that you are interested in purchasing we can help direct you to some good spots.

WALKING IN BALI

We will be visiting sites where we will be walking around – please know we will set a comfortable pace for the group and will always make accommodations as necessary.  In fact, we welcome the opportunity to slow down and truly take in everything around us. There are also quite a few stairs in places which are easily navigable but worth noting. If you are not typically active in your daily life – if you get the chance before you leave – it might be a good idea to incorporate a walk into your daily routine before you travel. If you have concerns with your knees – we recommend a knee support stabilizer on hand in case you want to use it. (more in packing tips)

As Bali is also quite warm / humid – we will be especially mindful of our pace and taking care of our bodies in the heat. In 12 years we have never had an issue.

You will be sharing often very skinny and sometimes uneven streets with other pedestrians, cars, street dogs and the occasional monkey – so wear very comfortable shoes and always be present while you are walking.

FOOD

The food in Bali is delicious!  We will be sharing with you some local Balinese favorites as well as exceptional, creative and healthy food! As this is a Body / Mind / Spirit Retreat – we will be offering only healthy vegan / vegetarian food to nourish and cleanse our bodies.

Gluten free diets are easy to accommodate – though we find that the ancient grains used in Bali don’t tend to bother people who are careful about their gluten intake.  Of course – the first and only rule is to follow where your own intuitive wisdom guides you to remain healthy.

FOOD SAFETY

Bali is a developing country – so being mindful of what you are eating is important. All of the restaurants / lodgings we will be frequenting cater to Western visitors – so the food is very safe there. Lighter, plant-based but cooked meals are most recommended during your stay. After a few days of acclimatizing your gut microbiome to Bali … we can begin to introduce raw foods such as salad – but we will avoid it at the beginning of the trip.

The tap water in Bali is not recommended for drinking, washing food, or brushing your teeth. The retreat center is the exception. Purified bottled water is easily available everywhere, and is also provided by the lodgings we are staying in.  *Please bring a refillable water bottle and we will have purified water for you to use. (and we can reduce plastic waste)

In order to avoid “Bali Belly” there are a few things that we recommend as nothing can spoil a trip faster than not being able to leave your bathroom.

Avoid tap water
Avoid raw foods – stick to cooked
Wash hands often and carry some hand sanitizer
Apple Cider Vinegar – this is our personal trick.  A tablespoon first thing in the morning helps to alkalize the system and keep those nasty belly bugs away. (more on packing tips page)

Bali is 15 hours ahead of San Diego – so your body will go through some considerable adjustments. We will be ready with supplemental support for your body when you arrive. We strongly recommend you purchase Homeopathic No Jet Lag formula and take it during your flight (every 2 hours you are awake). We’ve been using it for 2 decades and it is great! We will give more tips on our “information call” next month. You can find the formula on Amazon and other stores:

Miers Laboratories No Jet Lag Homeopathic Jet Lag Remedy (1 Pack, 32 Chewable Tablets),

SETTING INTENTION

As this is a journey of personal transformation – each place that we visit is an opportunity to express your intention or honor your personal theme.   It is suggested that you take some time to contemplate your intention for this journey before you leave home so that you can create and set your direction for your adventure.  Of course – along the way – you may have the realization that your initial intention has morphed into something else.  It is perfectly fine to shift your focus as you open yourself.  Whatever is honoring your truth and is for your best and highest good is a beautiful way to walk your path in Bali.

This is a small group voyage. Space is limited to 10 – 12 beautiful souls.
